Vestry met in Serson Hall with a call to order at 6:30 p.m. There was a quorum. Fr. Tom shared a prayer titled After the Storm.

Members Present: Fr. Tom Thoeni, Rector; Steve Carnell, Sr. Warden; Paul Nelson, Jr. Warden; Mary Lou Dogoloff, Rose Porembo, Judy Martin, Jeannie Smith and Murray Smith. Peter Lund joined the meeting by zoom and Tom Connolly was absent.

Motion to approve vestry minutes: Fr. Tom asked for a motion to approve the September 25, 2024 minutes. Judy M made the motion and Paul N seconded. This motion was adopted unanimously. 

Treasurer’s Report: Rose P had a handout from which she presented the September financials. 

Hurricane(s) recap: Our church buildings were without power for several days. Fr Tom wanted vestry to know we have a storm shutter that protects the rose window in the church. The remote control for the storm shutter will be stored on a shelf below the safe in the altar guild room.

Annual Convention: Bishop Scharf will give the diocese an alternate date to hold the canceled convention from October 11-12, 2024 because of hurricane damage, flooding affected the coast of FL.

Development Project: Fr Tom said he is waiting for meetings to be scheduled in October or November with Austin and Lang Lowrey.

Vestry nominations: Steve C reported that Judy M and Peter L and he have been talking with parishioners. At the next vestry meeting they will announce volunteers for three open seats.

Annual Stewardship campaign: A report will be made at the next vestry meeting.

Solar Panels Project: Paul N tabled the solar research. He emailed the vestry members details to explain his problems communicating with the solar company.

Campus Landscaping Update: Fr Tom met with God’s Gardeners just before hurricane Milton arrived. A plan was presented by Norma P to fix problem areas of vegetation and trees throughout the church campus. Mary Lou D endorsed Norma’s plan after she asked for help from her Naples Botanical Gardens friends.

Rectory Windows Installation: The company hired to install the windows will be measuring the window openings in two days.

T-Coil Installation Status Update: At the next meeting Tom C will have an update.

Outreach Committee:  Judy M reported that she is looking for names of local organizations needing donations. Suggestions from the vestry will be considered for outreach giving in May 2025. 

Fr. Tom closed the meeting with a prayer at 7:10 p.m.

The next vestry meeting will be October 16, 2024
