Vestry met in Serson Hall with a call to order at 6:35 p.m. There was a quorum. Fr. Tom opened the meeting with a prayer named A Blessing for an Advent Wreath.
Members Present: Fr. Tom, Rector; Rich Shea, Jr. Warden; Nora Broszeit, Clerk; Lee Barron, Judy Martin, Tom Connolly, Mary Lou Dogoloff. Missing were Peter Lund, Steve Carnell, Sr. Warden and Rose Porembo, Treasurer.
Approval of November vestry minutes: Fr. Tom asked for a motion of approval for the November 15th vestry minutes. Judy M. made the motion of approval and Mary Lou D. seconded the motion. The motion was adopted by acclamation.
Treasurer’s Report: Fr. Tom gave a few comments to the vestry and said the full treasurer’s report would be emailed to the vestry.
Old Business
Farmer’s Market Update: Fr. Tom reminded the vestry that due to rain last week the market was slow. Fr. said that Peter L. decided to move the vendors’ booths closer to Davis Blvd. so drivers could see how welcoming the market is.
Holy Name of Jesus Agreement: The agreement will be available at Thursday’s potluck dinner for Fr. Panel to sign. Many of the Holy Name of Jesus members will attend the dinner.
Planning: The 2024 Budget is almost complete. Compensation issues were completed. And the finance committee has continued their work.
2024 Vestry Selection Process: Lee B. contributed three names as nominees for new vestry terms; Jeannie Smith, Murray Smith, and Paul Nelson were interviewed for the positions.
Reviews of Renters’ Fees for 2024: Renters were given a 5% increase. Using the west side parking lot are employees from a golf carts store and a garage door store. A boat owner is renting space in the yard behind Serson Hall.
Solar Panels: Tom C reported Kelly Roofing declined to bid on the job of installing solar panels. Rich Shea said that he could not get information from FL Power & Light.
Land Use Planning: More information is being collected by Steve Carnell and Fr Tom. The vestry was charged by Fr. Tom to spend time this month looking at the property and praying for inspiration. This experience will be discussed at the next meeting.
Website Update: Tom C. told the vestry that he has installed the latest applications on the church website.
New Business
Adopt a Voting Precinct: The vestry agreed to rent Trinity Hall as a voting precinct three times a year. March, August and November are the months each needing a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for setup day, voting day and removal of voting machines day. Training is required for volunteers from our parish.
