Vestry meeting of October 20, 2022

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church
     Vestry Meeting Minutes
     October 20, 2022
 
 
     The vestry met in Serson Hall at 6:30 pm.  Fr. Tom opened the meeting with a prayer of thanks called Rainbow Prayer After a Storm.
 
     Members Present: Fr. Tom, Rector; Peter Lund, Sr. Warden (via phone); Rich Shea, Jr. Warden; Nora Broszeit, Treasurer; Judy Allen, Judy Martin, David Abernethy, and Steve Carnell. Van Geoghegan and Don Anderson were absent. 
     Visitor for the meeting, Charlene Connolly.
 
    1.  Mutual Ministry Review:
    Fr. Tom reported that he was waiting for the return of Mutual Ministry Reviews from the vestry.
 
    2.  Personnel: Musician
    Gordon Brown started as our interim organist the Sunday after Hurricane Ian came ashore on Ft Myers, FL. Since Gordon is not a choir director parishioner Gail Cooper has volunteered to direct the choir and she will help Gordon select weekly hymns. A motion was made by Nora B. and seconded by Judy M. to pay Gordon Brown for a max of 10 hours a week. The motion was unanimously approved.
    
    A call and a resume has become available to be reviewed by the music team for the organist’s position.
 
    3.  Endowment Documents:
    A motion was made by Rich S. and seconded by Steve C. to approve a Buildings and Grounds endowment.
    The motion was unanimously approved. This endowment will perpetuate the future of St. Paul’s.
    A  motion was made to withdraw and represent to the vestry after editing.
 
     4.  Financial Report:
     Nora B. was pleased to have July and August financial reports to discuss. While training a new bookkeeper    Nora has worked diligently as a volunteer to fill in the needed man hours.
 
     5.  Minutes:
    A motion was made by Judy M. and seconded by Nora B. to accept the minutes of September’s vestry meeting. The motion was unanimously approved.
 
     6.  Reports as needed:
     Steve C. reminded the vestry and teams working toward Re-Launch 2023 that he is expecting lists of their plans. Months of idea forming, and planning activities will bring St. Paul’s together again in 2023 after losing so many internal and external activities due to COVID. Teams are Communications – Fr Tom, Ministry – Van G. and Rich S., Projects – Peter L./Rich S., Stewardship and Financials – Steve C.
 
    7.  Stewardship:
    Nora B. reminded vestry that a stewardship chairperson needs to be named.
 
   
 
    
 
 8.  News from the Bishop:
     Fr. Tom reported that on December 10 the diocesan convention business meeting will be held at the Cathedral of Saint Peter in St. Petersburg. Due to postponement because of Hurricane Ian the business meeting will be held in the morning and the installation of Bishop Doug Scharf as the 6th Bishop of this diocese will be held in the afternoon. Voting delegates from our church are Nora Broszeit, Steve Carnell, and Charlene Connolly. Fr. Tom will be attending with Tom Connolly who is on the Bishop’s Council for a three-year term.
 
    The meeting ended with a prayer at 7:45 pm.
 
    The next meeting will be November 17, 2022.
