                                                               Vestry Meeting Minutes

                                                                   December 16, 2021                                              

                                    

The Vestry meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Fr. Tom in Trinity Hall.

                        

Members Present: Fr. Tom, Rector; Rich Shea, Sr. Warden; David Abernethy, Treasurer; Richard Breithaupt, Nora Broszeit, Judy Allen, Dick Emerson, and Van Geoghegan. Absent were Don Anderson

and Joyce Cashin, Jr. Warden.

 

Fr. Tom opened the meeting with a prayer.

 

Minutes: Rich Shea moved that the November minutes be approved, and Judy Allen  seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved.

 

Financials: David Abernethy reported on the financial reports. Reports attached.

Fr. Tom and committee members Nora Broszeit and Richard Breithaupt have brought our church By-Laws up to date. The congregation will vote at the Annual Meeting January 30, 2022, on changes to the By-Laws. Our current environment has embraced electronic meetings and the use of 9 vestry members who represent year-round Naple’s residents which are examples of changes. Fr. Tom will present the By-Laws amendments in December’s Pathways to allow the congregation time to be informed for an approval.

 

Fr. Tom discussed a session in Trinity Hall after a 9am service January 9, 2022, to give parishioners the opportunity to hear speaker Mark Beland from Avow Hospice. Fr. Tom will provide information about pastoral care. Reservations are requested. Rich Shea  made a motion to pay up to $500.00 for the brunch offered at this meeting, Judy Allen seconded the motion. Jan Shea and Van Geoghegan will help prepare the banquet plans.      

 

Candidates have been invited to join the vestry of St. Paul’s Church. The new candidates will be installed at the Annual Meeting on January 30, 2022. Open are 2 one-year terms, and 3 three-year terms. Don Anderson and David Abernethy have one year remaining on their 3-year term. Joyce Cashin, Van Geoghegan, and Dick Emerson are expiring their 3-year term. 

Richard Breithaupt continued discussion regarding his work to improve the restrictions put on the Society of St. Paul’s Endowment Fund when it was created 3/8/12. Our church improvements are being  discussed and developed in our long-range planning.

 

 

 

A thank you note was available for the Vestry to read. A buffet was provided by Van Geoghegan and Carol O’Connell for teachers and administration last month at the school to support and thank teachers for all that they do for the children of this Title 1 school.

 

Adjournment was at 7:30 pm. The next meeting will be January 20, 2022.

Following the meeting the vestry enjoyed a Christmas potluck dinner in the church hall.
